Dave Wheat was named Johnston Middle School Principal in 2006. Using a collaborative multicultural approach with students, teachers, parents, and the community, Mr. Wheat led Johnston to its first TEA Recognized rating in school history. The next year he led Johnston to its first TEA Exemplary rating in school history. Dave's leadership achievement was receiving the prestigious national 2010 Blue Ribbon Award.

Mr. Hare also serves as Education Chairmen for the 100 Black Men of Houston Metropolitan Area.
