Dave Wheat
Dave Wheat began his career as an English teacher. In HISD, Mr. Wheat taught at Sharpstown Middle School and was assistant principal at Westside High School and Hamilton Middle School. He was named Johnston Middle School Principal in 2006. Using a collaborative multicultural approach with students, teachers, parents, and the community, Mr. Wheat led Johnston to its first TEA Recognized rating in school history. The next year he led Johnston to its first TEA Exemplary rating in school history.

Dave's leadership achievement was receiving the prestigious national 2010 Blue Ribbon Award. Mr. Wheat grew up in the Houston area and completed his undergraduate degree in English and master’s degree in Administration and Supervision at the University of Houston. As principal at St. George Place, he built a strong academic program and earned three TEA distinctions in 2017-2018. As Lanier Middle School Principal from 2019-2022, he focused on the rigorous approach to International Baccalaureate learning.
